On Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th of August, Rutland Sailing Club are hosting the RYA Multiclass Regatta, which will welcome over 40 entries to the event, plus helpers and volunteers.

Sailors from across the country will be attending Rutland this weekend to partake in the RYA Multiclass Regatta, including wheelchair users, who have found that sailing is an inclusive and accessible sport thanks to RYA's Sailability campaign.

Sailability is all about allowing a variety of sailors to access sailing in a safe environment, with the help of volunteers and staff who adapt sailing to fit the individual, enjoy the outdoors, and cultivate a safe but competitive environment for sailors to thrive.

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) have over 200 Sailability Clubs across the country, including Rutland, so to host this event is a proud moment for Rutland Sailing Club.

Commodore of Rutland Sailing Club, Nick Neve added: "It's wonderful to welcome the UK Sailability community back to Rutland and we look forward to a fun weekend."

The event will run as follows:

Saturday the 6th of August will see fleet racing open the event, with briefings and preparation in the morning, a 12pm launch and 12:30 race start.

Sunday the 7th of August brings a pursuit race to the event, which will begin at 11:00am, conclude at 12:30pm, with a prize giving planned for 15:00.

Find out more about the current table of results and who is set to race at the event here.

Good luck to all who are racing, and keep an eye on Oakham Nub News for the results and images from the weekend.
