Rutland Council announces candidates standing in by election

Rutland County Council has released the full list of candidates standing in the Oakham North East by election. 

The by election, which will take place on Thursday 21st November, follows the tragic death of Cllr Hannah Edwards in September. 

Candidates standing in this election are: 

  • Ben Callaghan – Reform UK 
  • Linda Louise Chatfield – Liberal Democrats 
  • Christopher StJohn Eric Clark – The Conservative Party Candidate 
  • Katie Ross – Labour Party 

The deadline for individuals to register to vote in this election is midnight on Tuesday 5th November. This can be done online by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or if you are unable to register online, email [email protected]

For registered voters looking to vote by postal vote or postal proxy, applications to their local council must be done before 5pm on Wednesday 6th November 2024. 

For those wishing to apply for a new proxy vote, the deadline for this is before 5pm on Wednesday 13th November 2024. For more information on proxy and postal voting in this election, visit the council's election page. 

People who will be voting in person on Thursday 21st November are reminded that they will need to bring a valid form of ID or Voter Authority Certificate with them when they cast their vote.
