Due to delays caused by winter weather and vehicle breakdowns, Rutland County Council says it is catching up with collections from last week.

In an update issued today (Tuesday), the council also says it is keeping up to date with the current week's collections, which may means residents may see both their bins are collected on the same day.

The following areas have been affected by delays, collections are expected to be completed by Friday 19/02.

The council advises: "Please leave your bin out and it will be collected."

Barleythorpe

Uppingham

South Luffenham

Preston

Glaston

Belton

Bisbrooke

Braunston

Caldecott

Lyddington

Ridlington

Seaton

Stoke Dry

Thorpe by Water

Wing

Rutland Council blames the delays on last week's wintry weather, which created dangerous conditions across the county.

The statement continued: "Our crews are managing to reach towns and villages, but are struggling to complete collections in full because of icy conditions on some narrow side streets.

"This is making it difficult for crews to catch up in some areas.

"However, they will keep going and extra collections are planned on Saturday. This includes farms and lodges collections.

"If your bin has been missed this week please leave it out and we will be back for it."
