Rutland County Councillors Ramsey Ross and Steve McRobb have given a statement to reassure his Oakham North-West constituents about devolution plans and update them on their councillor surgeries.

Ross wrote: "We recognise the great interest being taken in the changes being proposed for Local Government in our area. [Two weeks ago,] Cllr Waller, Leader of the Council, published an update on the approach being developed in collaboration between the Leicestershire District Councils and Rutland. We support this approach. Rutland County Council will launch an initial public engagement during week commencing 24 February 2025.

"This first phase of engagement will inform the councils' interim plans for reorganisation which must be submitted to Government by 21 March 2025. The interim plan is just that: interim. A final plan must be approved by 28 November 2025. There will be many more opportunities to get involved and make your views heard over the coming year. Details are available on the Council's website."

Councillor surgeries for Oakham North-West will now take place on an appointment-based system and meetings will be held at The George Hotel or an alternative location if needed. To book an appointment or discuss any concerns about the ongoing devolution plans, contact Councillor Ramsey Ross at [email protected] or Councillor Steve McRobb on [email protected]
