Rutland County Council has proposed a scheme to link Oakham Town Centre with popular cycling routes around Rutland Water, hoping to improve access for residents, support tourism and reduce reliance on cars in the area.

The authority is inviting residents and visitors to have their say on the proposal for a new cycling facility along Stamford Road to create a safer and more accessible route between Oakham and Rutland Water.

The proposal includes:

  • segregated cycling facilities,
  • improved crossings, including toucan crossings and side road crossings,
  • improved signage, lighting and surfacing,
  • connections to existing cycling routes, including Burley Park Way,

The proposed route would start near Oakham Library and continue along Catmos Street and Stamford Road.

A survey by the council to get feedback from local residents and visitors is open until 7 July and can be accessed by clicking here.
