Adam Croft's Rutland Crime series has certainly garnered local fame since its initial publication in 2020, but the release of the 5th book in the series this December is attracting excited fans from across the nation to the sleepy market town of Oakham, Rutland.

The Rutland Crime series focuses on DI Caroline Hills and DS Dexter Antoine as they investigate a series of gruesome murders that take place in Oakham and Rutland, many local landmarks featuring as dramatic backdrops to these bloody crimes.

Adam Croft is publishing 'Moment of Truth', the fifth book in this popular local series on the 16th of December 2022.

This new title follows the first four books, 'What Lies Beneath', 'On Borrowed Time', 'In Cold Blood', and 'Kiss of Death' - something that has stirred up both local and national fans.

Karina Gallagher is one of these fans.

Karina has also bought some of Adam Croft's popular merchandise.

Karina was inspired to visit Rutland by Croft's novels, and wrote in to Oakham Nub News sharing her story: "I am an avid reader of Adam's books. Not only that, but I'm also in his membership scheme. As a result of my membership, I was one of the lucky people who had a character named after me - PC Karina Gallagher in book 2 of the Rutland series, On Borrowed Time.

"This had a huge impact on me, as Adam had no way of knowing that when I was (much) younger I had aspirations to join the police. My first attempt was when I was planning to leave school to join the military police. For various reasons, it didn't happen. A good few years later, I was interviewed for Strathclyde Police.. Didn't make the cut!

"So with the stroke of a pen - or a couple of keystrokes on the computer - PC Karina Gallagher became an (alternate) reality!"

Karina added: Here is the dedication from the inside of my prized copy of 'On Borrowed Time'

Karina said: "I have also made a good few friends on the fan Facebook group and have visited the Rutland area a few times. I even have a photo of the crime scene taken on my first trip over a year ago!

"I've visited Rutland three times now, and I've made some lovely fiend through the Facebook group. We were fortunate enough to be able to meet up and were joined by Adam's lovely parents."

Karina has also shared her favourite phots from that fateful visit with us:
