Rutland Farm Park family fun day raises over £1,000 for Blood Cancer UK
Last weekend, Rutland Farm Park raised over £1,000 at their family fun day, hosted in aid of Blood Cancer UK.
Rutland Farm Park is a popular local attraction run by one Rutland family, with yours in mind.
The team is made up of husband and wife duo, Clive and Julie Ball, who are supported by their children and team of local workers and volunteers. Their daughter, Amy is key when it comes to the everyday running of the farm, and this year's family fun day was been inspired by her.
Ten years ago, Amy lost her partner Richard to cancer.
Richard was a loving and much-loved member of the family both at Rutland Farm Park and his own family, who run Portess in Oakham. He worked in the high street store for many years and was a friendly and familiar face to both colleagues and customers.
On the ten year anniversary of Richard's passing, the team decided to raise money for Blood Cancer UK at their annual fun day – something that they hadn't hosted since the pandemic closed them down in 2020.
The fun day took place on 6 August and the team managed to raise a whopping £1,200 for the national charity, Blood Cancer UK.
Blood Cancer UK, is a UK-based charity dedicated to funding research into all blood cancers including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma, as well as offering information and support to blood cancer patients. The charity's vision is to beat blood cancer.
