Rutland Musical Theatre (RMT) have announced their next 2 productions following high praise for their most recent production of 'Kinky Boots'.

The Rutland-based amateur musical theatre group staged their production of 'Kinky Boots' earlier this month at The Cube in Corby, and it was dubbed 'perfection' by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) representative who attended the show.

Luke Campbell, NODA East Midlands representative, said: "What I witnessed was THE BEST community theatre production I have EVER seen, in over a decade working in the sector. My report of RMT's 'Kinky Boots' can be summed up in one word: 'PERFECTION!'"

NODA attend a range of local productions across the UK, reviewing 1000s of shows by the 2,500 amateur dramatics groups that they represent in the process. As such, this is high praise indeed and is just another example of the success achieved by the local society.

The show was also attended by Steve Pateman, the real-life 'Charlie Price' and originator of Kinky Boots. The man behind the real-life story, Steve guided the group as they got ready to perform the iconic show, and attended on the Friday and Saturday nights to meet the crowd and sell his book, 'Boss in Boots'.

Following this production, the team have announced that they will be putting on a production of 'Avenue Q' in August.

Part flesh, part felt and packed with heart, Avenue Q is the laugh-out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a bright-eyed college grad named Princeton. When he arrives in the city with big dreams and a tiny bank account, he has to move into a shabby apartment all the way out on AVENUE Q. Still, the neighbours seem nice.

There, he meets Kate (the girl next door), Lucy (the sl*t), Rod (the Republican), Trekkie (the internet entrepreneur), superintendent Gary Coleman (yes, that Gary Coleman) and other new friends! Together, they struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

This production will take place at Rutland Showground on Wednesday 30 August.

In April 2024, the production company will be staging 'The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy'. This will be their first major production in 2024 and will take place at The Cube in Corby on 10, 11 and 12 April.
