Police are to step up their patrols in Oakham following increased reports of anti-social behaviour.

Officers have devised a 'Problem management plan' after talking with Rutland Council and other members of the Rutland Community Safety Partnership about the issue.

In a joint statement, PC Joe Lloyd from Leicestershire Police and the Rutland Community Safety Partnership, told Nub News: "A problem management plan has been put in place in Oakham following reports of low-level anti-social behaviour in a park.

"It has been reported that groups of youths have been gathering in the area in Cutts Close and engaging in behaviour deemed as causing concern, alarm and distress to other members of the public using the facilities.

"The plan allows police and partner agencies to work closely together to encourage those involved away from causing anti-social behaviour.

"Officers will be increasing their patrols in the area as part of the initiative to tackle the concerns raised.

"Members of the public are encouraged to report any incidents of anti-social behaviour by calling 101."

Comment was also sought from Rutland County Council.
