Rutland Police have received reports of young people in Oakham climbing on roofs.

'While this may seem like harmless fun,' said the force, 'it is extremely dangerous and could result in serious injury or worse.

'Roofs are not designed to be accessed this way. There is a significant risk of falling, unstable surfaces, and damage to property, as well as the potential for emergency services having to respond.'

The police have asked parents and carers to take the time to speak to young people about the dangers this action has and reinforce why it is not safe.

They also ask young people to think carefully before taking risks.

If you see anyone on a roof or believe someone may be putting themselves in danger, report it to 999 so the police can take action before someone is hurt.
