Rutland residents share their favourite snaps of the county
We asked you to send in your top pictures of the local area - including snaps of your favourite landmarks and locations around Rutland.
As usual, the Oakham Nub News readers did not disappoint, and have sent in some shots of the breathtaking scenery across Rutland.
Mick shared his top two taken of Normanton church by day and night.
Mick's favourite way to catch the local sights and scenery is by bike, allowing him to capture some amazing images.
Paul also shared his incredible shot of what is arguably Rutland's most iconic landmark!
It was raised to prevent it from flooding and is not open to the public, but used for weddings and ceremonies.
Karen also got in touch to share her shot of Rutland Water by boat, including some of our most common birds, the humble seagull.
Karen said: "There's nothing like getting out on the water on a nice sunny day. It is so peaceful."
Debs is also a fan of Rutland Water, and sent in two snaps of the man-made reservoir. The first was taken with a view of boats racing from Rutland Water Sailing Club.
Debs also took a great shot at Rutland Water's dam, looking all the way down England's largest reservoir.
Also a lover of Rutland Water, Cora shared a picture of her visit to Rutland Aqua Park last summer.
Karina Gallagher, who is a massive fan of Adam Croft's Rutland Crime Series and often visits the area to catch a glimpse of her favourite book locations, also sent in some of her top shots.
She shared a picture of All Saints' Church, where the murder scene in Croft's 'Kiss of Death' was set.
Karina also shared a picture of the iconic viaduct, which features in Croft's second Rutland Crime Series book.
Roxanne also shared this vibrant shot of Oakham Castle with us, taken last summer.
Josh shared an understated shot of Oakham from Brooke Hill, a popular walking route and great for the early morning walkers, who will often spot hares and rabbits playing on the fields above the town.
We also wanted to share one of our own shots of a section of the Rutland Round in between Oakham and Langham on a hazy spring morning.
The Rutland Round is s a circular walk of about 65 miles round the county of Rutland and is tackled by walkers all year round.
We also wanted to share this shot, taken by us at Oakham Cemetery in February 2021 just after a generous snowfall.
Thank you all for sharing your snaps with us.
We loved looking at them and would be happy to add more to this gallery. You can send images to [email protected].
We look forward to seeing them!
