The Rotary Club of Rutland are running weekly conversational English Classes for Ukrainian refugees in Oakham.

All are welcome at these classes, which are taking place at Oakham's Methodist Church on Thursday evenings.

The Rutland and Melton MP has commended the efforts.

Alicia Kearns, the Conservative MP, said: "If you're hosting a Ukrainian family locally, then please spread the word - all are very welcome to attend these classes and it's the perfect opportunity to improve your English in a friendly, relaxed setting."

The classes are taking place from 7pm until 9pm on Thursday evenings.

The club are also welcoming members to join their friendly, community-minded group.

A spokesperson from the Rotary Club of Rutland said: "We are a small friendly Club and we like to think that the Rutland County motto MULTUM IN PARVO 'much in little' or. as Christopher Marlowe translated it, 'Infinite Treasure in a Little Room,' applies as much to the Rotary Club of Rutland as to the County."
