The local community radio station, Rutland and Stamford Sound, is hosting a showcase of local musical talent at Stamford's Corn Exchange later this month.

The line up for Rutland and Stamford Sound on Stage includes Hayley Sanderson, one of the lead singers on Strictly Come Dancing.

Hayley lives locally and trained at Peterborough's Key Theatre and at local dance schools. While Hayley is best known for her role on Strictly Come Dancing, she is also widely considered to be one of the finest vocalists on the scene today and has worked on projects with a host of distinguished performers including McFly, Take That, Cher, Barry Manilow, Sia and Jennifer Hudson.

At the Corn Exchange, Hayley will be accompanied on piano by Gavin Ashley-Cooper, who has a wealth of experience in musical theatre and presents the Sunday evening Musical Directions show on Rutland and Stamford Sound.

Also performing will be local singer/songwriters Chloe Lorentzen, from Stamford, and Grace Arnold, from Uppingham, both well-known on the local music scene.

In addition, the evening's entertainment will feature a snapshot of the local musical theatre scene, with Stamford Showstoppers and Rutland Musical Theatre performing a selection of specially rehearsed numbers and musical theatre favourites.

Completing the line-up is a new vocal group, Broadway Bao, providing an opportunity to see one of the area's up and coming acts.

Rutland and Stamford Sound Station Manager Rob Persani explained: "As a community station we are committed to supporting local artists and we are delighted to be teaming up with the Corn Exchange to host an evening of high-quality local music. Listeners will be used to hearing us play Chloe and Grace's music on the radio, and we are thrilled that they are able to join us on stage at the Corn Exchange, alongside Hayley from Strictly and so many other talented performers. With six acts in one night, it is guaranteed to be an evening of high-quality musical entertainment. We encourage everyone to come and join us for this special celebration of local music."

Rob Persani, Mick Meadows and other presenters from Rutland and Stamford Sound will be introducing the acts. Rutland and Stamford Sound on Stage is at 7:30pm on Saturday 18 May. Tickets are priced £15 and are available now from the Stamford Corn Exchange box office.

Rutland and Stamford Sound has been broadcasting since March 2021 on smart speakers, on mobile phone apps and online. Earlier this month the station launched a trial on DAB+ radio in the local area, providing an additional way to listen, both at home and in the car.

The trial, lasting three months, aims to assess whether DAB+ is a viable option to listen to Rutland and Stamford Sound and, if the trial is successful, the station plans to roll out DAB+ alongside the current listening options.

The team behind the non-for-profit community station are keen to receive feedback on listeners' experience of the new DAB+ service, via the online form on the station's website.
