Rutland Water Music Festival: More details unveiled

More details have been unveiled about this summer's first ever Rutland Water Music Festival - including Anglian Water's intention to make it an annual event.

The festival - being headlined by British pop-rock bands Scouting for Girls and The Hoosiers - is set to hit the reservoir's shores on the 13 and 14 June.

They will be supported by tribute acts and local independent artists from across Rutland and Leicestershire.

As well as free and paid-for fun-filled activities for all the family, all stalls and food and drink vendors will be local businesses.

Anglian Water, which owns and runs the reservoir, is aiming to minimise the use of plastic at the event, reflecting the water company's promise to help tackle plastic wastefulness across the region.

Angela Angela Tobin, event organiser for Anglian Water, said: "We're so excited to be holding Rutland's first music festival this summer.

"This is such a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the park and all the county of Rutland has to offer.

"It's part of our ethos as a business to give something back to the communities we serve.

"On a day-to-day basis for Anglian Water that means protecting the environment, supporting the local economy and ensuring we're investing in a resilient network for the future.

"Rutland already has a real sense of community and we hope the music festival will be reflective of that, something visitors and the local community will support, be proud of, and return to year after year."

Visitors can choose to attend one or both days and will be able to camp overnight at the reservoir for the first time.

The festival will be set away from any environmentally sensitive areas - Rutland Water is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and internationally recognised wetland habitat - but there will be plenty of opportunities for visitors to learn about the reservoir's diverse habitat and conservation work.

Tickets for the music festival are currently on sale, with early bird offers extended until the end of February. Prices start at £45 for adults and £30 for children aged over four.
