Rutlanders featured on the 2025 New Year’s Honours list

Rutlanders have been listed alongside Idris Elba and Sarina Wiegman in the 2025 New Year's Honours List, celebrating the good work of citizens of the commonwealth. 

Stanley Rupert Brethwaite was recognised for services to Royal Air Force personnel and their families as an accommodation specialist for the Royal Air Force Families Federation. 

Lucy Conley was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to education. She was the former chief executive officer of the South Lincolnshire Academies Trust, overseeing Bourne Academy, Spalding Academy, Cowley Academy in Donington and the Giles Academy in Old Leake 

Dr Suzannah Lishman, who was already a CBE and lives in Rutland, has been made a Dame this year, recognised for her services to patient safety and the medical examiner system. 

She has recently become president of The Association of Clinical Pathologists and the Senior Advisor on Medical Examiners at the Royal College of Pathologists. 

Also being presented with a CBE is Rob Nixon, former chief constable of Leicestershire and Rutland Police, for his services to the police force and criminal justice service.
