Old Uppinghamian and former Lord Mayor of London Charles Bowman has been awarded a knighthood in the Queen's Birthday Honours List published yesterday (Fri).
Mr Bowman, who was a pupil at Uppingham School between 1975 and 1979, has been recognised for services to Trust in Business, International Trade and the City of London.
The highly-respected accountancy professional became Lord Mayor in November 2017, stepping down at the end of last year.
He played a leading part in raising £24m over six years for major building projects and bursary programmes at Uppingham School.
Robin Lee, the principal and the founder of Wilds Lodge School, in Empingham, who lives in Oakham, has been awarded an MBE for services to children with special educational needs and disabilities.
The school provides independent specialist boarding and day provision for boys and day provision for girls with social, emotional and mental health difficulties aged between five and 19.
The school website said today: "We are thrilled to see that Mr Lee has been awarded an MBE in the Queens Birthday Honours list this year.
"Wilds Lodge are so proud of the work that is done to support SEN and how the school has grown since it opened.
"It was a huge step setting up the school in 2007 and there were no certainties it would be a success.
"What a lovely recognition of a lifetime of work in a very difficult and often marginalised field of education."
Andrew Nebel, who lives in Ryhall, is also awarded an MBE for services to charitable fundraising.
Among his many roles, Mr Nebel was UK Director of Marketing and Communications at Barnado's for 12 years where he boosted the charity's annual fundraising from around £50m in 1997 to more than £78m in 2007/8.
And Cara Charles-Barks, chief executive of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, who lives in Clipsham, has received an MBE for services to the NHS.
Ms Charles-Barks began her career in 1990 as a registered nurse in Australia and worked as a nursing director at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide.
In 2008 she moved to the UK and took up the role of deputy chief operating officer at Peterborough and Stamford NHS Foundation Trust before moving to Hinchingbrooke HealthCare Trust as deputy chief executive/chief operating officer. She joined Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust in February 2017.
The Queen's Birthday Honours List recognises the outstanding achievements of people across the UK and announced in June.
