Rutland highways have been ranked alongside some of the top in the country following a recent survey.
Satisfaction in Rutland's roads remains high as results of the National Highways and Transport (NHT) Public satisfaction survey rank Rutland as 5th out of 111 participating authorities.
This is the 3rd year that Rutland County Council has taken part in this national and independent customer satisfaction survey and the 3rd year that the county remains in the top quartile.
The survey was carried out in June with a random sample of Rutland residents contacted directly by NHT Network and surveyed on their satisfaction with various aspects of highways and transport services.
Rutland County Council's Portfolio Holder for Highways, Transport and the Environment, Cllr Christine Wise, said: "We are extremely pleased to remain in the top quartile overall for customer satisfaction in the National Highways and Transport Survey. Rutland has consistently performed well in this survey, demonstrating high levels of satisfaction as one of the top performing councils across the country.
"This year we are joint 5th in the county with Manchester and Solihull out of 111 authorities that have taken part. This is excellent news and gives us a good insight into the general public's view of the service provided by RCC and highlights the good practice that is already taking place in Rutland's Highways services. Whilst the results celebrate our successes, they also highlight where there is room for improvement, helping us to shape the service moving forward.
"I would like to thank the Highways and Transport teams for their hard work and dedication that have led to us achieving these positive results."
Rutland County Council has recently seen some large investment into its highways including a Carriageway Patching programme, which main schemes concentrated on Stamford Road Oakham, Oakham Road Hambleton and Melton Road Oakham. This was a £700k programme that proactively prevents potholes forming and seals the road surface.
A recent Thermopatching programme was also completed on various sites. This was a £65k programme which recycles the existing road surface adding new material which also has added carbon reduction benefits.
This NHT survey is a unique, standardised, collaboration between Highway Authorities across the UK enabling comparison, knowledge sharing, and the potential to improve efficiencies by the sharing of good practice.
Over four million households have been sent a copy of the NHT Survey since it was first launched in 2008 and over a million members of the public have responded to date.
