A local pub has raised over £170 for the National Military Working Dogs Memorial UK with the support of its dog-loving patrons.

Having raised £85 for the charity last year, The Plough in Greetham, has upped the ante this year, raising an admirable £177.08 to support the commemoration of military working dogs.

Headed up by Landlord and chef, Pete, the team do love their animals, with many owning their own pups and the pub itself being home to a menagerie of rescued and adopted furry and feathered friends.

The pub has already been dubbed 'doggy heaven' and 'easily the most dog-friendly pub around' by satisfied customers, and it is certainly living up to the compliments, going above and beyond to recognise the importance of our canine companions.

The National Military Working Dogs Memorial charity, otherwise known as NMWDM (UK), was established in 2017 with the sole purpose to establish a memorial to commemorate the Military Working Dogs who bravely served their country in both World Wars and subsequent conflicts as in Bosnia Afghanistan and Iraq.

The planned working dog memorial has been designed to represent all branches of the United Kingdom's Armed Forces. It will have four bronze dog statues, representing all service dogs, and plaques with the names of military dogs.

Once built, the memorial will be located in Wales, NMWDM (UK) explaining that this is a "central location for the whole of the UK and Ireland."

The team have said a big 'thank you' to locals for their support. Image credit: The Plough, Greetham.

The team at The Plough added: "Another huge thank you to everyone who donated into the bar collection box for National Military Working Dogs Memorial, we received this thank you certificate today."

The team continue to support local charities, such as the Air Ambulance, as well as hosting local groups, weekly meal deals, quiz night, bingo and much more, so be sure to swing down to the lively community hub at:
