Rutland Farm Park is on the hunt for a Saturday Farm Hand.

A working and leisure farm in the market town of Oakham is recruiting a Farm Hand to join them every Saturday plus additional days to support the smooth running of the attraction.

Rutland Farm Park is home to a range of animals, including chicken, geese, sheep, goats, horses, alpaca, pigs, rabbits and rare breeds. Most of their animals have been donated, rescued or born on the farm, and the team are on the hunt for an animal-mad local to help with the care of their diverse 'flock'.

The team behind the family-fun farm said: "We are looking for a mature person to join us on the farm."

Job to include:

  • Mucking out
  • Overseeing students and volunteers but must be able to work as team
  • General farm tiding, dealing with the public
  • Must be confident to host animal handling sessions
  • Making sure all tasks have been completed

Do you love animals and people? This job may be the right one for 'ewe'! Image credit: Nub News.

The successful candidate will work every Saturday and one Sunday a month, with extra hours during school holidays, with the expectation that they would also work a minimum of two bank holiday Mondays.

Applicants must have previous experience with all animals, including horses, and have good animal knowledge, as they will be working up close with the motley crew of rare breeds and big friendly beasts at the Uppingham Road attraction.

You must also have animal husbandry skills and good handling and people skills, as you will be hosting handling and petting sessions on top of your usual duties.

Hours will be from 7am until 3pm.

Please send your CV and a cover letter to Julie at [email protected].

You can visit Daphne's Tea Room without paying farm entry - although the venue makes a great spot for post-visit snacks and sweet treats! Image credit: Nub News.
