A Rutland family is showcasing real farming and conservation on a small scale farm.

Rutland Farm Park, a family-run attraction located on Uppingham Road, is a traditional Victorian farm with a twist. Run by the Ball family and supported by local volunteers, the farm brings the perfect blend of education, family fun and tradition, offering up the chance to get in touch with nature, learn and support a working farm.

As well as having a classic tea room, a collection of rare breed animals and a fleet of traditional farm vehicles, the team host a range of educational events year-round so that families and children can learn about the importance of local farming.

As a part of this initiative to promote local produce, the team sells fresh eggs, local honey, hand and homemade goods and other Rutland-grown and bred goodies at Daphne's Tea Room, located at the entrance to the working fun farm.

The 18-acre working farm is currently hosting lamb feeding too, so that you can get up close with the new lambs and learn more about the cycle of life on British farms.

This event must be booked in advance. You can call the team on 01572 722122 to enquire.

Following the Easter holidays, during which the team welcomed hundreds of guests keen to learn about life on a rural Rutland farm, the farm is continuing to welcome changes and improvements.

These include work on the woodland trail and Tots Thursday, which was reintroduced earlier this year.

The team said: "It was lovely to see so many of you visiting over Easter, even when it rained and with all the improvements we are making. It's been wonderful to see old faces and new!

"We have lots of change happening, but nothing too crazy as it's important we keep the farm as it is, a real Rustic Victorian working farm, showcasing real farming and conservation on a small scale farm."

Another change, now that the clocks have gone back, are the new summer opening times at the farm:

Tuesday – Sunday, 10am – 5pm (last entry at 4:30pm).
