Rutland Farm Park has teamed up with Oakham Nub News this spring to name the new arrivals on the popular family farm and attraction.

Spring is in the air, and the team at Rutland Farm Park have already welcomed some additions to the 'flock' as lambing and calving season begins...

And we need your help naming them!

The first of the calves to be born on the Uppingham Road farm has been named Champagne - and welcomed warmly by Rutland's animal-mad community, who have already paid the "gorgeous calf" a visit.

Another regular at the farm, Linda, added: "What a fabulous name."

With more calves arriving already, the team have asked for your help in naming them.

They said: "We are already busy this spring, and look forward to welcoming you to meet the newest additions to the farm. To say a big 'thank you' for your continued support, we would like the local community to help us think up names for our two newest calves."

There is currently one male and one female calf to name.

Rutland Farm Park is owned by Clive and Julie and run day-to-day by their daughter, known fondly by the local community as Farmer Amy.

The working and play farm is supported by volunteers who, alongside the family-focused team, host a range of events throughout the year to entertain and educate the Rutland community.

Day-to-day, visitors can get up close with a range of rare-breed animals and enjoy grooming and petting sessions with rabbits, guinea pigs, goats and more furry and feathered friends. And this spring, you can join the fun as lambing and calving season ushers in the warmer - and hopefully drier - weather.

The team said: "We have started calving and lambing so pop down and see our pet calf, Champagne and her two lamb friends.

"Don't forget, we have a lot of renovation and changes coming this year, so please bare with us when walking around the farm park.

"We know this work is taking a lot longer than we thought, but let's face it, Rome wasn't built in a day. These things certainly take time especially on the farm battling with daily weather changes and lots of rain. Hurry up spring!"

Rutland Farm Park is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am. No booking is needed, just turn up and enjoy the fresh air, meet and feed the collection of animals on the farm, and get in touch with nature.
