Here's an event to get eggs-cited about: the Lions Club of Rutland annual virtual Easter Egg Hunt.

The Lions Club of Rutland organises this event as a free community service. It is charity group which raises funds for good causes by running or supporting events such as the Rutland Show, the fireworks display at the showground and the Santa sleigh, as well as their next upcoming event, the annual virtual Easter Egg Hunt.

This year, the event will start and end at Rutland County Library, Oakham, where all the information needed to complete the hunt will be provided.

The route follows the Oakham Heritage Trail, and the aim of the game is to find up to 20 virtual Easter eggs (Veggs) hidden along the way and take a photo of each. Every egg has a question for you to answer.

For every Vegg found, photographed full screen with the correct answer and returned to the Lions, the team will receive a real chocolate mini egg from the organisers' 5kg stash! Plus, to keep energy supplies up during the hunt everyone taking part receives a creme egg before they set off.

It's the perfect way to enjoy some family fun during the Easter holidays and has been designed for children accompanied by an adult, although youngsters aged 13 or older can take part unaccompanied, as long as they have parental consent.

Before you get going, the team will help you get set up and ready to hunt. Ideally, you'll have WhatsApp on your phone for photographs of the Veggs and question answers, but if you don't have this app don't worry. You can still take pictures of the eggs on a smart phone and fill in the answers on a paper sheet available at the library.

When you arrive at the library on Catmos Street, register your name and smart phone number with the Lions - whose mobile number you can add to your contact list to submit your answers. After finishing the trail hand in, virtually or otherwise, your group's images and answers, find out how many eggs you've earned… and tuck in.

Once the Lions have confirmed your egg tally, remember to delete the WhatsApp group from your phone.

This year, it will take place for three days, between 3 and 5 April from 10am until 4pm at Rutland County Library:
