The annual Rutland County Show is taking place in Oakham this weekend.

On Sunday 2 June 2024, the 190th Rutland County Show will go ahead at Rutland Showground.

A microcosm of the wider countryside, the annual rural and agricultural show brings together almost every aspect of rural living and lifestyle, from rural crafts and livestock to the region's finest farm machinery.

Now in its 190th year, the 2024 show is set to be bigger than ever, with a jam-packed schedule packed full of family entertainment alongside livestock and equine showing classes and some of the county's finest food and drink.

There's live music throughout the day and vintage tractor displays, ferrets, scent dog demonstrations as well as a funfair plus the hilarious Sheep Show is back once again for more ovine fun. Visit the Horticultural Tent for some gardening inspiration and have a go on the Active Rutland climbing wall or archery with the Bowmen of Rutland.

In the main ring this year you can watch Bolddog FMX, the UK's number one motorcycle display team performing heart-stopping stunts and tricks. A fast and furious Shetland Pony Grand National will also feature as well as an entertaining sheep herding demonstration by some very smart sheep dogs.

Those gentle giants, the heavy horses will be back. Entries travel from far and wide and you can meet them along with horses, ponies and livestock including sheep, cattle and goats as they all compete for Best in Show.

There's really something for all the family to enjoy and well-behaved dogs are welcome too, so bring them along to take part in the dog show.

Trade stands offer visitors the chance to browse local crafts – woodwork, jewellery, ceramics – and sample locally produced foods, such as cheeses, meats and jams.

Oakham based brewery The Grainstore will provide bars and there will be a wide range of street food and other refreshments available throughout the show, as well as the annual For Rutland Bottle Tombola, helping raise funds for Citizens Advice Rutland.

On top of this, the team are inviting ticket holders to join them at the after show party.

Set to go ahead on the same day as the show, the after party will kick off at 5pm and include live music with Prosecco Geckoa and Real Monsters, as well as food from Chef Steph, including mac 'n' cheese, buffalo or katsu chicken, fries, veggie options and more.

Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased at the same time as buying your show ticket. These are limited, so book soon to avoid disappointment.

The Rutland County Show will take place on 2 June from 9am until 4pm at Rutland Showground, Showground Way, Oakham. Find out more online.
