The steps in between Oakham Castle and Burley Road Car Park have been cordoned off by Rutland County Council this week.

The steps, used by commuters heading into Oakham from Burley Road Car Park, as well as tourists hoping to get an elevated glimpse of Oakham Castle Grounds and the Great Hall, have been closed off since the beginning of the week and there is not yet an official date for them to be repaired.

The steps are worn and in need of repair, having become a tripping hazard since the gravel has become displaced and the wooden risers loose.

A spokesperson from Rutland County Council said: "We have closed the steps between Burley Road Car Park and Oakham Castle because they need to be repaired. We hope to complete these repairs as soon as possible and will confirm when a date has been set for the works."

Oakham Nub News will share further updates when they become available.
