Telegraph announces the best pub in each English County with this Ketton pub taking the win for Rutland
In an article published by the Telegraph this weekend, travel writer Will Hawkes shares his top pub for each county in England.
His top choice in Rutland was Ketton's cosy village pub The Railway.
Hawkes wrote: "The winner of repeated CAMRA awards, it's a classic local in the old-fashioned, wet-led sense: excellent drinks, chat and music but food only extends to bar snacks (although roast potatoes have been spotted on Sundays). There can't be many pubs like this left in Rutland."
The Railway is a grade II listed traditional building that is popular across the county for serving excellent wine, beer and real ales, as well as a warm and friendly atmosphere.
This pub was awarded Rutland CAMRA Pub of the Year 2020, 2021 and 2023. It was also named CAMRA's Area Pub of the Year for Leicestershire, Northampton and Rutland in May 2024.
In response to the Telegraph article, the owner of The Railway in Ketton posted on Facebook saying: "We're proud and honoured to be mentioned and it's all a testament to being a great little inn with great locals and regulars."
