An Oakham hotel's top traveler reviews have earned it a place among travellers' favourites in the country.

The Wisteria Hotel has, this week, announced that it has been recognised by Tripadvisor as a 2023 Travellers' Choice award winner for hotel accommodation, as well as being in the top 10% of hotels worldwide on the global platform.

This is the 5th year in a row that the popular venue has been recognised by the online travel and hotel hub.

The coveted award celebrates businesses that have consistently received great traveller reviews on Tripadvisor over the last 12 months, placing these winners among the 10% of all listings on Tripadvisor globally.

Proudly independently owned and operated, the team at the Wisteria Hotel, led by owners Kristy Carey and Chris Newsham, aims to bring a new level of hospitality to Oakham.

Owner Kristy Carey said "We are absolutely delighted to win this award again in 2023, especially as we celebrate our 5th Anniversary this year of owning the Wisteria Hotel and would like to thank our amazing team who work tirelessly to look after our guests. It has been a very turbulent few years battling all the challenges Hospitality businesses face which are well documented in the news."

Since the duo purchased the hotel in 2018, it has benefitted from a full renovation, with the final area – the Restaurant & Bar – being renovated in February this year.

The Wisteria Hotel has 25 bedrooms, an onsite restaurant and bar, pop up beer garden and a variety of function rooms to cater for weddings, meetings and events, including civil ceremonies.

Kristy added: "Our mission is and remains to be to take care of people, starting with our team, who then in turn take care our fantastic guests. No matter the occasion our aim is for customers to arrive as our guests, and leave as our friends, and we are thrilled that this shows in the wonderful guest feedback we have received online"

John Boris, Chief Growth Officer at Tripadvisor, said: "Congratulations to the 2023 Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice winners. The travel resurgence we've seen throughout the past year has even further heightened the competition.

"Earning a Travellers' Choice Award demonstrates that you have provided great experiences to those who matter most: your guests. With changing expectations, continued labour shortages, and rising costs, this is no easy feat, and I am continually impressed with the hospitality industry's resilience and ability to adapt. Cheers to another successful year!"
