This Thursday (August 15), teenagers across Leicestershire will be waking up to find out how they fared in their A-Levels. This will herald the start of making huge decisions about the next steps in their life – whether that is finding a job or apprenticeship or moving on to higher education.

On the day, students will be expected to go to their schools or colleges to collect their results which are usually available from 8am. The UCAS hub which tracks university applications will also give the results on the same day – usually from 8am.

Ahead of the big day, the LDRS put together the full list that shows how well each school and college performed in the 2022/23 academic year. Leicester Grammar School came out on top, with 63.20 per cent of students achieving AAB or higher. Their average score was 4.66 and their average grade was an A.

Just behind them was Leicester High School for Girls, with 60 per cent of the girls achieving AAB or higher. The average score was 45.87 and their average grade last year was A-. Finally, third of the top three was Uppingham School. Their average score was 44.25, and their average grade was B+. 27 per cent achieved AAB or higher.

Just above them was the Castle Rock School in Coalville, with an average score of 21.59, an averge grade of D and 7 per cent achieving AAB or higher.

Above them was The Hinckley School with 26.84 average score, an average grade of C-, and 3.8 per cent achieving AAB or higher.

Here is the full list of schools ranked on last year's results.

John Watson, headmaster at Leicester Grammar School, said: "We were delighted with record results last year, and being the top co-educational school in the whole of the midlands. Results for last year were extraordinarily good, and we are looking forward to the results this year."

The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) contacted Leicester High School For Girls, Uppingham School, The Hinckley School, The Castle Rock School and Brooke House College for comment but had not heard back at time of publishing.
