Three Rutland schools have been awarded funding for refurbishment.

Seven schools across Rutland, Melton and Stamford are set to receive a share of the £456 million Government investment to improve school buildings across the country.

In Rutland, Edith Weston Primary School Whissendine Church of England Primary School, and Cottesmore Academy will benefit.

This funding is part of the Government's Condition Improvement Fund, aimed at creating an improved learning environment for pupils, with safer and warmer classrooms, and in some instances, more energy efficient buildings to help meet the Government's net zero target.

The schools in Rutland, Melton and Stamford awarded Government funding from the Condition Improvement fund are:

  • Tugby Church of England Primary School
  • Sherard Primary School
  • Edith Weston Academy
  • Fernvale Primary School
  • Whissendine Church of England Primary School
  • Cottesmore Academy
  • Ketton Church of England Primary School

The Condition Improvement Fund will provide investment for over 1,000 building improvement projects across 859 academies, sixth-form colleges and voluntary aided schools as part of the Government's £1.8 billion investment in the school estate in 2023-4.

This funding follows the Government investment in 23 primary schools across Rutland and Melton as part of the National Funding Formula's NFF sparsity factor in 2023-24, in addition to the funding awarded to Casterton College as part of the Government's £1.8 billion School Rebuilding Programme.

Alicia Kearns MP, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Melton said: "We are very fortunate to have so many wonderful schools locally, but we must ensure that our school children have access to the high-quality facilities they deserve.

"This Government investment will deliver on this, fostering a safe learning environment where pupils have the facilities they need to study."

"This funding is fantastic news for our pupils, ensuring they have the very best start in life to go on and succeed."
