A menswear fashion outlet has opened in Oakham thanks to the collapse of an iconic US menswear company.
Designer Menswear opened on the corner High Street last Monday selling stock from Brooks Brothers and reports healthy trade.
Manager Tim Rhys-Williams said: "We were able to get a lot of stock. Unfortunately this Coronavirus hit them at a hard time."
Oakham born-and bred Tim previously worked at Gates Garden Centre, Cold Overton, as warehouse & distribution manager; and has a business partner who is in the rag trade.
He told Nub News: "The opportunity came up. I was asked to manage the shop."
At the moment, the shop will be there for 8 weeks, but hopefully it will stay.
Tim continued: "Last week went very well. We had much support from the local community. We have also had many people wishing us very well."
Many customers work at private schools in the area, where the male staff must wear suits.
"We are able to cater for them with a light suit for the summer."
The shop also stocks sports jackets, rain coats, chinos, shirts and men's accessories.
It is due to receive more casualwear, including polo shirts.
In the store, Tim, 24, is helped out by Tom Hubbard, 22, and have become known as 'Tim and Tom the Brooks Brothers.'
Tim added: "If all goes well, we will also get Armani jeans.
"The feedback we have had so far is we really need a men's clothing store in town. People are also liking the idea of casual clothing so we will get more casual wear."
