Upp's full-fibre broadband has now arrived in Oakham.

Upp are building a "fast, reliable network in the East Midlands and East of England towns that need it the most".

Since they first launched their service in Stamford in September 2021, Upp broadband have expanded across Lincolnshire and Norfolk and even into Rutland and Leicestershire. However, despite their recent and rapid growth, the community remains at the heart of everything they do.

They have already supported a range of community enterprises and local charities, including Oakham & Rutland Events by Carolyn Acton-Reed, and Pepper's – a Safe Place in Oakham.

Most recently, they've provided a new urn and hot drinks for volunteers at Pepper's – a Safe Place, supporting their Warm Hub initiative and enabling the group to continue supporting local people battling loneliness and the cost-of-living crisis.

They've also attended a range of events in the local area, including Oakham's Late Night Shopping event, and the Rutland Music Festival by Carolyn Acton-Reed in July 2022.

Ms Acton-Reed, on 16 January 2023, has confirmed that the music festival will be returning in 2023.

Mary Freeland, Upp Campaign Manager, said: "We love to support the local community, and that is as much about giving our time as it is money. This is why we have decided to run a community-focused event where Oakham and Rutland residents can come and ask us questions about our services."

As such, on Monday 30 January 2023, 5 – 8pm, the team from Upp will be hosting a meeting at Victoria Hall, where residents can attend and ask any questions and address any concerns they may have about this new broadband provider.

Upp's next level broadband will be rolling out into other Rutland villages soon, so watch this space for more information.

Mrs Freeland concluded: "Villages often get left behind and forgotten about, but they need great connectivity as much, if not more, than the larger towns. This is why we are excited for our imminent growth into Rutland's villages."
