Upp's full-fibre broadband has now arrived in Oakham, and on Monday 30 January, Rutland resident had a chance to meet the team and ask any questions of the new service provider.

Upp are building a "fast, reliable network in the East Midlands and East of England towns that need it the most".

The team have been working hard to get involved with the local community, supporting local groups and charities while work is carried out in and around the area.

The team have just finished work on Oakham High Street.

On Monday 30 January, the team hosted a Q and A session at Victoria Hall for Rutland residents to drop in and ask questions, as well as find out as much as possible about the new broadband provider.

We spoke to Mary Freeland, Upp Campaign Manager, on the night:

Following the meeting, Ms Freeland said: "It went really well, we were packed before 5pm!

"Lots of people attended who are really keen to connect to the network, with some coming who had already been connected and said it was fantastic, and some excited as they are due to be connected in a few days time.

"We also had some community groups come to see us, which was great as we will support local community groups where we can through sponsorships, donations, and volunteering.

"We are rolling the network out in stages to align with the installations, so there will be more addresses made available in the next few weeks.

"I'm really pleased and thankful so many people came out to see us on a cold, January night."

Luckily, the staff arrived early, as many Oakham residents couldn't wait until 5pm to find out more (image courtesy of Mary Freeland).
