Walkers warned of juvenile cows in Brooke Hill fields

A warning has been released to Rutland residents after the cows in the Brooke Hill fields have been moved to the main field, which is accessed regularly by walkers, runners, and fitness enthusiasts.

Brooke Hill is a popular location for Oakham residents and fitness enthusiasts to walk, run and cycle at this time of year, however it is also where local animal owners keep their herd of cows, including juvenile males.

The land user has recently released a statement that the main herd have been moved to the Gorse and Bells paddock, while the four juvenile males have been moved to the Ridge and Furrow paddock - both owned by the Woodland Trust but rented by an independent party for keeping the cattle.

As such, walkers and other users of the land should be aware that the cows will be in these locations. Similarly, dog walkers should ensure that their dogs are under control or on leads when walking through this stretch of land.

Residents are thanked for their consideration.

Happy hiking!
