What's on in Oakham this weekend: live music, Jubilee events, and The Rutland County Show

There are Jubilee events galore this weekend as communities across the county and country come together to celebrate 70 years of service from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Queen's Jubilee Beacon Lighting
The weekend of celebrations kicks off on Thursday evening with the Jubilee Beacon Lighting in Cutts Close, in the heart of Oakham.
There is a long tradition in our country of celebrating royal festivities, such as jubilees, weddings and coronations, with the lighting of beacons.
Across the county, beacons will be lit at 9:45pm.
The Rutland County Show
On the 4th of June 2022, the Jubilee rendition of the annual Rutland County Show will be held at Rutland Showground.
The fair will include:
- cattle events
- agricultural stalls and shows
- food
- drinks
- entertainment
- family attractions.
Tickets cost between £2 and £15, with under 5's going free.

Leicester's 2FunkyArts 3-Day Festival
Leicester-based social enterprise 2FunkyArts is 'Reuniting Audiences' for its ninth year this June, championing a whole host of new, international and established artists from Black, Caribbean and African descent, at its three-day festival. Festival2Funky celebrates the richness and vibrancy of alternative music across genres such as, hip-hop, house, dub, jungle, afrobeat, jazz and soul, and offers the opportunity for communities to come together over the Jubilee weekend.
The diverse and boundary-pushing programme takes place from the 3rd to the 5th of June at the esteemed 2Funky Complex, Leicester's leading independent multi-complex venue. The festival welcomes everyone with its family-friendly daytime programmes of events and electric evening schedules for music lovers.
Headline acts include:
- Internationally renowned Jamaican artist Kabaka Pyramid
- Bristol grime duo Kahn + Neek
- Migraine Skank creator Gracious K
- Soul/Jazz legends Carol Leeming and The Acts of Senseless Beauty
- Afro inspired music with rock and jazz Group Shadeemus
- Poet, musician and actor Abena Essah
