Record Store Day
Record Store Day is returning to Oakham for 2025 on Saturday 12th April and Rocka-Buy Records has teamed up with other local businesses to make this a day to remember.
Rocka-Buy records will be opening at 8am (with customers expected to start queuing early). They will be selling their usual and rare records, as well as special Rocka-Buy and Record Store Day merch.
They will be joined by Fika Coffee Shop, Notorious Tattoo, The Crown Tavern and a small stall by Emmie Poole selling crochet to make this a lively day. There will also be live music and a vinyl DJ. To read the full story about this event, click here.
Singles Wine Tasting at L'Art de Vivre
On Friday 11th April, L'Art de Vivre in Oakham will be hosting a fun and flavourful singles event where those attending will get conversations with five different people accompanied by five different wines.
Taking place between 7pm and 9pm this Friday, this event is the perfect relaxed way to meet new people without the formality of an awkward first date. Just sit back, enjoy some beautiful wine and interesting conversations and who knows? You might meet your match.

Wedding Fair at Wisteria Hotel
The Wisteria Hotel in Oakham is opening its doors to future couples for a showcase of their beautiful wedding venue this April, in partnership with Fizzydo.
The Wedding Fair, which will be taking place on Sunday 13th April between 11am and 2pm, will give couples and their loved ones the opportunity to explore the Wisteria's stunning wedding venue, speak to their amazing wedding vendors and get inspired for their special day!
Enjoy a free glass of fizz on entry and all guests will be entered into the chance to win a bottle of bubbly.
Virtual Easter Egg hunt in Oakham
If you're stuck on how to keep the kids' entertained this school holidays, get involved in this year's Lions Club of Rutland's annual virtual Easter Egg Hunt.
This event will take place on the 9th, 10th and 11th April between 10am to 3.30pm at Oakham Library.
Everyone's a winner with this Easter Egg hunt, with all participants being given a Creme Egg before you set off on your hunt and more treats are available for the teams once they return to the library with their answer sheet.
Participants will need a mobile phone in their team, ideally with Whatsapp, for photos of the Virtual Eggs and to answer to the 20 questions. Alternatively, you can simply take photos on your phone and fill out the answers on the question sheet provided.

Easter Egg hunt at Rutland Water
There are giant decorated Easter Eggs hidden around Rutland Water and it's your job to find them. The eggs have all been decorated by members of the community, including Ketton CofE Primary School, Edith Weston Academy and 1st Oakham Rainbows and Brownies.
Head to Rutland Water and find the eggs, complete the trail sheet with the special spring word and head back to the visitors centre to claim your sweet treat.
This will be taking place for free daily between 10am and 4pm from 12th April to 21st April.
Thursday Night Dinner at Fox and Hounds
The team at The Fox & Hounds in Knossington be hosting their weekly Thursday night special on 10th April. This week they are serving up homemade corn beef hash fritter, BBQ Boston beans, spring onions and sour cream OR a giant fishcake served with buttered spinach, soft poached egg and truffled hollandaise.
For just £12.95, every week they put on a popular meal deal, and you can head down to 6 Somerby Road, Knossington to join the fun.
