What's on in Oakham this weekend: a fundraising quiz, Coronation celebrations and family events

Join in with a host of events across Rutland this weekend, including live music, community parties and much more to mark the Coronation of King Charles III.

Prickleback Hedgehog Rescue Fundraising Quiz

The Prickleback Urchin Hedgehog Rescue Centre team are delighted to announce that their big quiz held annually to coincide with Hedgehog Awareness Week is taking place on Friday 5 May 2023.

The quiz will be held at Rutland Show Ground in Oakham.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here

They cost £6 each or £24 for a group of 4, or £36 for a group of 6. 

Doors open at 7:30pm and there will be a bar, snacks, raffle and more.

Coronation Celebrations at The Admiral Hornblower

On Saturday 6 May, The Admiral Hornblower on Oakham High Street will be hosting a live screening of the Coronation from 11am in their garden area.

Guests can enjoy bottomless pizza with prosecco for £25, or upgrade to Pimms or bellinis for £30 from 12pm - 2pm. This must be booked and can be done so by calling 01572 723004.

The team will then be hosting live music from The Free Soul Sista and The Free Soul Band from 7.30pm onwards. This is free and food and drinks will be available to purchase.

Coronation Service and Party in the Park

A special service of Thanksgiving will be held at All Saints Church in Oakham to celebrate the Coronation on Sunday 7 May.  

This will take place at 10:30am and be followed by a parade heading into Cutts Close for the Party in the Park at noon, hosted by Rutland's Lord-Lieutenant, who is currently fundraising to erect a statue of HM Queen Elizabeth II outside Oakham Library.

Following the service on Sunday 7 May, a Party in the Park will be held at Cutts Close, with the permission of Oakham Town Council, where people can gather to enjoy activities and entertainment from noon.

Coronation Car Boot

On Monday 8 May, Rutland Showground will play host to a Coronation Car Boot Sale.

'Clear out to help out' is the theme and residents are encouraged to clear out their homes, garages and lofts to sell goods for charity. 

Funds raised will go to Rutland Foodbank, Rutland Citizens Advice, and For Rutland. 

There will be food and drink, a funfair, games, stalls and more. 

This will take place from 10am until 4pm.
