What's on in Oakham this weekend: free music, wellness, move nights for a budget weekend

View a huge range of free, family friendly events going on in and around Oakham this weekend.

Thrive and Bloom Wellness Talk

Join a free group wellness session at Rutland Nursery Cafe in Manton this Thursday at 4:30pm.

Thrive & Bloom is a project inspired by the beautiful surroundings of Rutland Water, with the aim of utilising the inherent relaxing qualities of the garden nursery, combined with local wellness expertise to promote good health and well-being across our community.

Sessions take place on the last Thursday of each month from 4.30pm at Rutland Garden Nursery, and generally last between 45 and 60 minutes.

There is no charge and free tea and coffee is served.

Live Music at Victoria Hall

Rutland residents are invited to the public reopening of the Victoria Hall Bar on Friday 27 January.

Enjoy free entry to an evening of drinks from The Grainstore Brewery and music from local 4-piece band, Manky Beds, plus DJ.

Doors open at 7.30pm, and the band will begin at 8.30pm, with doors closing at midnight.

Donations to the Victoria Hall Charity are welcome on the night to help the group provide more events for the community.

Rutland Free Cinema: The Killing Fields

Friday 27 January is the international day to commemorate the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust and the millions of other people who have been killed under Nazi persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

As such, Rutland Museum are hosting a free film event, with a screening of The Killing Fields, sponsored by Arts 4 Rutland and Rutland County Council.

Entry is free and doors will open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start

Spectacle of Light

If you fancy journeying a little further afield, Belvoir Castle's Spectacle of Light opens on Friday 27 January.

Discover the night-time wonder of Belvoir Castle as you follow a beautiful new Spectacle of Light and Sound around the glorious landscape.

The magical after-dark experience for all the family runs until 19 February 2023.

Hats Funny Comedy Night

Hats funny comedy returns to The Boot Inn, South Luffenham, with a new act and new material night this Sunday 29 January, 6pm - 8:30pm.

Resident host and local cheeky chappy Ian Hayes, will be introducing the comedians, who are made up of brand new acts looking for some stage time, and experienced acts practising new material with Leicester comedy just around the corner . On a night where anything can happen, one thing that can be guaranteed is laughter a plenty.

Entry is free, but cash donations are very much appreciated for the acts.
