What's on in Oakham this weekend: Rutland Day celebrations, live music and food offers

The Ragdolls - Corn Exchange Theatre

The Ragdolls will be performing at Corn Exchange Theatre on Friday 13 September.

Organisers say: "During the first half of the show they perfectly recreate the iconic sounds of the "Four Seasons" taking you back to where it all began, performing the classic 50's songs as the "Four Seasons" once did. Hits include 'Still of the Night' 'Oh Carol' 'Teenager in Love' and 'Why do Fools Fall in Love'."

Rutland Day at Oakham Castle

Oakham Castle is hosting Rutland Day between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 14th September.

The event will include live entertainment from local re-enactment society The Ferrers Household, performances from Rutland Choral Society and Rutland Morris.

This free to attend event will be celebrating all things Rutland with appearances and activities from local charities and organisations.

Hedgehog Family Fun with Prickleback Urchins Hedgehog Rescue

Hosted at Ferneley's, Hedgehog Family Fun will run between 10am and 3pm on Saturday 14th September.

This event invites the public to join the charity in a day of hedgehog-themed fun, including children's crafts, a tombola and the chance to try mini-golf.

There will also be experts on hand to answer all your hedgehog questions and offer advice on how best to protect our local prickly friends.

Thursday Night Dinner at Fox and Hounds

Fox and Hounds are serving up two delicious specials this week (Fox and Hounds).

The team at The Fox & Hounds in Knossington be hosting their weekly Thursday night special on 12 September, and this week the team are serving up tempura cod cheeks in ginger beer, garlic parmentiere, pea mint and wasabi purée or slow baked beef, red pepper lasagne, garlic bread and rocket salad.

For just £12.95, every week they put on a popular meal deal, and you can head down to 6 Somerby Road, Knossington to join the fun.

Also coming up in Oakham this month:

Connie Taylor Ceramics will be hosting an exciting pottery workshop in Oakham this month. 

The pressed flower workshops will take place on 21 September between 11am and 1pm or 1.30am and 3.30pm. 

Connie is inviting people to "Arrange and imprint the dried flowers onto a pre-rolled slab of clay using a slab roller, and choose from a number of cutters to make up to six coasters.

The workshop costs £60 and can be booked here.
