The weather is looking pretty warm this weekend and, with the school holidays in full swing, we will be hiding in the shade this weekend.
For people looking for a bit more excitement, there's loads going on in and around Oakham and Rutland this weekend, from a refreshing dip at Rutland Water to going on a woodland adventure with Ratty and Mole with Immersion outdoor theatre.

Rutland Flower Show
The first ever Rutland Flower Show will take place from 15th to 17th August at Rutland County Showground.
There is a packed schedule with celebrity appearances, hands-on workshops, floral and gardening competitions, local businesses, arts and crafts and activities to keep the kids entertained.
Special appearances on the Garden Theatre Stage will include Adam Frost from BBC Gardener's World, author and head of Barnsdale Gardens Nick Hamilton and a host of expert gardeners, florists and horticulturists.

Bat and Bottle Summer Italian Wine Tasting at Castle Cottage Café
Join an al fresco wine-tasting this Friday at Oakham Castle's Cafe garden with Oakham's own specialist importer of Italian wine, with the return of their wine and antipasti tasting night.
Led by a wine expert Ben Robson, attendees can expect an interesting and relaxing evening trying delicious wines and anti-pasti.

Open Air Performance of Wind in the Willows
Pack your picnics and join Ratty, Mole, Badger and the fabulously chaotic Toad as they embark on a lively adventure through the woodland world to save Toad Hall.
Bought to you by the award-winning Immersion Theatre, expect stunning costume, music, toe-tapping songs and incredibly loveable characters at this performance at Whitwell Point.
This live open-air performance will take place from 3pm on 16th August (arrivals from 2pm) and tickets are available to book here.
Take a dip at Rutland Water
If you want to cool off this weekend, head to Rutland Water's North Shore for a refreshing swim and relax on the beach without having to drive hours to the seaside.
During the summer holidays, visitors can visit the beach and swim between 10am and 6pm.
