VE Day 80: A Special Exhibition at Rutland County Museum

Rutland County Museum in Oakham is holding a special exhibition called 'VE Day 80: Stories from the Collection' to mark the 80th Anniversary since the Second World War ended in Europe.

The exhibition features recent World War Two acquisitions, as well as items that are not on permanent display. The items will explore Rutland's historic links to the Royal Navy and a fascinating collection relating to a local Prisoner of War.

The exhibition will run from Saturday 3rd May to Saturday 14th at Rutland County Museum, which is open Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, between 10am and 4pm.

Plant Sale at Empingham Garden Club

On Saturday 10th May, Empingham Garden Club will be holding their 18th Annual Grand Plant Sale.

The sale will take place at the Cricket and Social Club on Exton Road and will include hundreds of plants at bargain price, as well as coffee, tea and cakes available. The sale will run between 10am and 12 noon.

Discos for Grown Ups at Victoria Hall

The popular 'Discos for Grown Ups' pop-up event is returning to Victoria Hall in Oakham on Friday 9th May. 

Discos for Grown Ups has toured across the country, with recent events selling out. They promise a legendary night to remember packed with 70s disco, 80s pop and 90s dance classics, as well as glitz, glam and retro sweets. 

This is the ideal event for people looking to dance the night away, without feeling out of place in a nightclub filled with teenagers. 

Their new and refreshed playlist is packed with popular hits including all your favourite 70s, 80s and 90s disco, soul and feel good pop hits you love from Donna Summer, Earth Wind and Fire, Human League, Chic, Sister Sledge, Odyssey, Chaka Khan, ABBA, Madonna, Robin S, Erasure, Bee Gees, Candi Staton, Faithless and many more.

Fabulous Florals Art Workshop

The Cakery at Rutland Garden Village is hosing an art workshop to make a fabulous floral collage with mixed media artist Jane Millum. Attendees will use a mix of acrylic paints and simple stamping and printing techniques to create their floral masterpiece.

Thursday Night Dinner at Fox and Hounds
