Enjoy a variety of events to get you out and about enjoying the glorious British weather this weekend, from a singing workshop with Bob Chilcott to Lyddington's Village Fete or a classic car meet.

On top of the, artist Julian Beaver will be creating a pavement portrait of Rutland's 'Sea Dragon', formally named an ichthyosaur, on Mill Street on Saturday.

The £3000 piece of art has been commissioned by the Mill Street Traders Association in an attempt to revive Oakham's Market Town and shops.

Rutland Choral Society Come and Sing with Bob Chilcott

To celebrate their 50th Anniversary, the Rutland Choral Society are hosting a sing-a-long at Rutland Showground from 9.30am until 4.30pm on Saturday the 14th of May 2022.

Come and Sing with the composer Bob Chilcott - described by the Observer as a contemporary hero of British Choral Music.

This amazing workshop is open to all and everyone - no need to be a choir member or a music reader - if you love to sing, come and join us for a fabulous day of singing and fun.

There will be parking, tea, coffee and cake provided.

Bring a picnic lunch and if the sun shines the event can take place outside.

Tickets for this incredible event are going fast, so get yours from Eventbrite and via the Rutland Choral Society website.

Lyddington Village Fete

Alternatively, head down to Lyddington to experience the sites and sounds of this beautiful village and help raise money for a plethora of local causes.

Lyddington Village Fete will be taking place on Saturday the 14th of May 2022 between 1:30pm and 4:30pm. 

The fete will offer:

  • refreshments
  • Pimms tent
  • BBQ
  • raffle
  • tombola
  • fun dog show
  • displays of classic cars and motorcycles.

A Lancaster flypast has been confirmed for 1:40pm, subject to cancellation.

The event is free for all and will be attended by the Gretton Silver Band who will be providing background music to accompany the cheerful atmosphere.

Cars and Coffee on Mill Street

A previous Mill Street Car meet

On Sunday the 15th of May 2022, Mill Street will play host to a collection of classic and coveted cars from in and around the local area. 

This event will take place on, Mill Street, Oakham, LE15 6EA from 10am until 12pm.

Come along and see some great cars and enjoy good coffee.

Booking is not required - just turn up and enjoy the morning!
