There's loads going on this weekend with a host of events taking place in and around Oakham and Rutland this weekend, from bug hunting and pond dipping to live music and great food.

Meet the Easter Bunny at Rutland Farm Park

Over the Easter weekend, Rutland Farm Park has loads of fun activities to get stuck into, including: pig brunch, guinea pig cuddles, treats for the cattle, meet and groom Daphne the rescue donkey, guinea pig treats and cuddles, watch the hatching chicks, rabbit corner, and meet the African snails. Easter arts and crafts will also be taking place.

For the perfect spring activity, there will also be lamb feeling but pre-booking is required. 

On Easter Friday and Sunday, the Easter Bunny will also be making a special appearance, along with an Easter Scavenger Hunt and Find the Golden Egg.

Shrek: The Musical by Rutland Musical Theatre

Enjoy a magical evening at the theatre with Shrek: The Musical at The Core At Corby Cube.

Idle Playthings at Victoria Hall

On Thursday 17th April at Victoria Hall in Oakham, the Idle Playthings are performing. They are an original five-piece group from Rutland combining harmony, chaos, rock and pop.

This event is organised by The Grainstore Brewery and Victoria Hall and starts from 7pm. The bar will be open and there is a free shot with every ticket.

Family Pond Dipping, Bug Hunting and Crafts

Get out the house and into nature, head to the Anglian Water Bird Watching Centre at Egleton between 10am and 3pm on Thursday 17th April to get involved in some family-friendly activities.

Join the team at the nature reserve to see what you can discover with pond dipping and bug hunting and then try some wildlife crafts to take home.

Thursday Night Dinner at Fox and Hounds

The team at The Fox & Hounds in Knossington be hosting their weekly Thursday night special on 17th April. This week they are serving up two options. The first is deep pan lasagne and ragu, garlic bread and crunch pesto salad. Alternatively, there is lamb rump and baby spinach korma, onion bhaji, poppadom, pickles and braised rice and peas.

For just £12.95, every week they put on a popular meal deal, and you can head down to 6 Somerby Road, Knossington to join the fun.
