Where should more houses be built in Rutland? Have your say

A council has called on residents to share details of land which could be used for new housing.
Rutland County Council appealed to "landowners, developers and members of the public" to submit information pertaining to potential development sites, to help the council identify land that could be suitable for future projects.
Under new UK government housing policy, Rutland's annual housing target has increased from 123 to 269 new homes per year. Information regarding potential development sites is now being requested to help form a new "local plan", which will be used to support a planning framework over the next 20 years.
In conjunction with land for new homes, the council is seeking to identify areas for future "employment uses, community facilities and infrastructure".
"Sites submitted through our initial call for sites stage will be carefully assessed, helping to decide where development could take place in the future," Councillor Paul Browne (Lib Dem) said, cabinet member for planning at Rutland County Council.
"The important word here is 'could'. Submitting a site does not guarantee it will be chosen, but it ensures it can be considered alongside all other options as we progress."
The council's "call for sites stage" of the local plan's development will continue until 4pm on Friday, July 31. Further work will continue for the next two years, before a six-month examination period in 2028. Pending final approval, it is slated to be brought into force in 2029.
