Angela Rippon to host ‘Let’s Talk About Dementia’ in Rutland with MP Alicia Kearns
Taking place as part of Rutland's Great Dementia Conversation, Angela Rippon will join Alicia Kearns and a panel of experts to discuss dementia within the local community.
Journalist, TV and Radio presenter Angela Rippon will join Rutland and Stamford MP Alicia Kearns and a panel of speakers for a discussion titled 'Let's Talk About Dementia' on Friday 25th October.
The event, which will be held at The Barnsdale in Rutland between12.30 - 2.30pm, is free for all Rutlanders and Rutland organisations. Local businesses, community groups, charities, health professionals and those in leadership positions are invited to learn more about how they can help Rutland become more Dementia friendly.
As an ambassador for Alzheimer's Society, Angela Rippon will chair the event and give a keynote speech on Rutland becoming dementia friendly.
She will be joined by experts from different fields to speak on the importance of dementia awareness and what communities can do to help.
Local MP Alicia Kearns says: 'I am so grateful to Angela Rippon and the amazing panel of experts who are kindly giving up their time to support Rutland's Great Dementia Conversation and our efforts to become the First Dementia Friendly County in the country.
'I hope this event will give every member of our community a valuable insight into how to be more dementia aware and encourage people to step forward and access the wide network of support available in Rutland.'
Kearns relaunched Rutland's Great Dementia Conversation earlier this month, hoping to spread awareness and better conversations about dementia, diagnosis and how to support those living with the condition.
Others attending include members of the Prime Minister's Dementia Friendly Communities Challenge Group Ian Sherriff B.E.M and Hillary Cragg; Chair and Founding member of Dementia Friendly Parishes Liz Hitchens M.A.; associate professor in dementia research Dr Nicholas Farina; and Assistant Psychologist working with people living with dementia Emma King.
The event is free but tickets are required on entry and are available here.
