The closing date of Oakham's HSBC has been confirmed.

Following closure delays while Oakham waits for its highly anticipated Banking Hub, the closing date for HSBC on Oakham High Street has finally been confirmed.

The high street bank will close on 28 May 2024, with the banking hub due to open in early April. This allows contingency if the new hub is delayed, and gives local customers the chance to get used to the change.

The bank was initially set to close in June 2023 but, following the closure of Oakham's Barclays, the chain remained open while a banking hub was developed.

The new banking hub will allow people to complete financial transactions face to face in Rutland's county town.

Cash Access UK, the organisation set up to protect nationwide access to cash, will provide most of the banking services associated with either the major bank branches or the Post Office, but all under one roof.

The new banking hub is not a post office so you won't be able to send parcels or buy stamps, and there are no foreign currency services. However, personal and business customers from all of the major banks can use the counter service on any day of the week.

Should customers require specialist services from their specific bank, each has a certain day of the week when their representative will be at the hub:

Monday - Barclays

Tuesday - NatWest

Wednesday - Santander

Thursday - Lloyds

Friday - HSBC

The Oakham Banking Hub will be open Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm. No appointment is necessary, and no queuing is expected.
