Dying Matters Awareness Week: Workshop series on end-of-life processes and preparing for the loss of a loved ones

Between 5th and 11th May, Dying Matters Rutland will be hosting educational workshops to help attendees better understand the dying process and what happens after the death of a loved one.
According to the organisers, 'in the same way that new parents are invited to learn about how to look after their new-born baby, the workshops will help people to learn more about what happens at the end of life and how to care for loved ones at home.'
The online workshops started yesterday, continuing for the next two days.
On 7th May between 6pm and 8pm, the workshop will be focussed on 'What to expect at end of life – the dying process,' including discussion of dying in hospital, dying at home, dying in a care or nursing home, dying in a hospice, and how your wishes, spiritual and cultural beliefs will be considered.
The talk on the 8th May will focus on what happens after death, including who to call and what verification will be needed, funeral directors, stages of grief, legalities and death certificates.
Dying Matters in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland is led by Dr Sarah Furness, Lord Lieutenant of Rutland and is focussed around improving end of life experiences for local people.
