The Old Oakhamian Freemason's School Lodge has donated £500 to the Victoria Hall to help with running costs as the historic building struggles to operate.

Situated at the heart of Oakham High Street, Victoria Hall is a vital part of the surrounding community and has been struggling to continue to open since lockdown.

As a former meeting place for the Old Oakhamians, the Lodge says it recognises the importance of the Hall as a centre for a variety of exhibitions, groups, charities and other local events. This donation hopes to help secure the future of the hall while there are ongoing conversations with the Council and other outside organisations to find potential income streams or tenants.

Trustee Joanna Burrows said, "this money will really help but we would also encourage organisations to get in touch regarding looking at, and hopefully booking, the excellent facilities we have."
