Barnsdale Hall Hotel is set to be renamed later this month [July] as Rutland Hall Hotel & Spa.

The rebranding follows a major refurbishment programme - also scheduled to be completed this month - by the new owners Dineshbhai and Savitaben Patel, co-founders of Leicester 's Cofresh snack foods empire.

In a newsletter to members of the Barnsdale Owners Association, the hotel general manager John Higham says: "The landlord has decided to change the resort name.

"Barnsdale Hall will become Rutland Hall Hotel & Spa.

"After many years of confusion with the lodge over the road, with guests and deliveries ending up in the wrong place, we have decided enough is enough and this would be the right time to move forward with a new brand identity."

Mr Higham reiterates that the new owners are 'fully committed' to regenerating the resort.

"In the first instance, all bedrooms, restaurant, kitchen and the main reception are having a major overhaul.

"These projects are due to finish in July 2021.

"The Main Hall renovations have had to be scheduled for later than this.

"This is because of the numerous electrical issues encountered during the project.

"Consequently, it has been decided to re-wire the whole building - being a historic house, you can imagine the difficulties being faced."

A 'grand relaunch' of the new restaurant, private dining and meeting rooms is anticipated to take place later this month.
