Dean's Street, in the centre of Oakham, will be one of the many local areas able to embrace this new provider.

With Oakham and Barleythorpe residents facing the potential development of 500 new houses on land west of Main Road in Barleythorpe, a range of concerns has been raised by local residents, including additional traffic on already-busy roads, more patients requiring care from over-subscribed medical facilities, and slower internet and TV connectivity in areas that already suffer slow or limited broadband.

Now, a new supplier are bringing their services to the local area, tackling at least one of these concerns...

It's time for Oakham, Bourne and Holbeach to level 'Upp', with full-fibre broadband arriving soon.

Are you tired of your video calls dropping out? Is it taking you two hours to download the latest episode of Strictly?

Sounds like you need to get on Upp!

Upp is a full-fibre broadband provider, bringing its high-speed network to the East of England – and the good news is that Oakham, Bourne and Holbeach are next to join Upp's network before the end of this year.

Upp is already live in seven towns and plans to deploy its full-fibre broadband to over 1 million homes by 2025, providing hundreds of jobs along the way.

But why is Upp different?

Many broadband providers use a mixture of outdated copper cabling and some fibre wiring. This is known as Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC). Upp's next level broadband is built using full fibre all the way to your premises (known as FTTP), meaning you don't share your connection with anyone else on your street, and it provides speeds of up to 900Mbps for both downloads and uploads.

Upp's CEO Drew Ritchie said, "It's fantastic to see the rapid expansion of Upp's network across Norfolk, so we can offer our full-fibre connection to an increasing number of homes across the county. For years now, far too many homes have struggled with poor and inadequate broadband, but it's great that Upp's network is already making a difference."
