Rutland and Leicestershire charity Vista is gearing up for a busy time during National Eye Health week from Monday.
Vista will be setting up at various locations, including Oakham, during the week to inform the public about the dangers of easily preventable sight issues and give free eye screenings to detect any early warning signs.
As over 50% of sight loss issues is caused by preventable causes, if a problem is spotted early, conditions can be treated successfully to avoid potential sight loss.
Whilst not a substitute for a full eye test, Vista's eye screenings take users through a series of simple exercises to see if there may be an issue with a person's sight.
Vista will be in Oakham on Wednesday September 22 on High Street, near Specsavers, from 10am to 3pm.
Vista provides support and services to almost 12,000 children and adults with sight loss throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
As well as rehabilitation, social groups, befriending and residential services, Vista also provide specialist services for people with learning disabilities, dementia and
dual sensory impairment.
