Oakham: Dogs kill badgers in Rutland village

Three badgers were killed by dogs in a Rutland village overnight on Thursday.

The Police Wildlife Officer said the poaching and wildlife crimes took place in Pickworth.

A statement posted on the website of Rutland Neighbourhood Watch said: "Poachers operate across our rural county, so if you see any persons you suspect are engaged in this activity, do not attempt to intervene, but please report this to Police immediately by 999."

In other crime news, Rutland Neighbourhood Watch reported criminal damage to five hanging baskets outside shops in the high street of Uppingham last last week. No date was given.
